What is Chabad of Lexington?

The warmth of community on Rosh Hashanah. The sound of the shofar echoing through the air. The comfort of chicken soup on a Friday night. The sparkle in a child's eyes as he reads his first Hebrew word. 

At Beit Chaim Meir Chabad, we strive to be a home away from home for every Jew. Our doors are open to all, and we are committed to nurturing a strong, vibrant Jewish future.

Together, we are one community, one family.

What is a High Holiday Campaign?

Every year around this time we start counting chairs. How many will come for Rosh Hashanah, how much food for the break-fast, how many children in the sukkah. We never quite know — because we've never asked anyone to buy a ticket or explain themselves at the door. People just come, and we make room.

Our annual High Holiday Campaign is what makes that possible.

Thursday, September 3rd, 9:00 AM — Monday, September 7th, 5:00 PM

Goal: $75,000

That number carries the whole season:

•⁠  ⁠Services anyone can walk into, whatever their background

•⁠  ⁠Holiday meals and the kiddush — the food and drink shared after services

•⁠  ⁠Shofar and Tashlich at the park

•⁠  ⁠Security at every service and program

•⁠  ⁠The Yom Kippur break-fast

•⁠  ⁠Sukkot — the sukkah, the meals inside it, the children's programs

The nicest moment of the year is the pause right before the shofar. The room goes quiet, and we get a few seconds to look at who's in it — people we pray with every week, people we haven't seen since last Rosh Hashanah, kids who were babies when they started coming. That room doesn't assemble itself. It exists because this community decided it should, and keeps deciding it every year.
